MM Quatorze: May in Paris Courtesy of the iPhone

Just a little glimpse of the last few weeks in Paris through the eyes of my iPhone.  Even though it hasn't been the nicest weather (downright winter-like, in fact), we've had a blast the past few weeks with friends and events around the city.  It's really starting to feel like home, which is good, because we are getting ready to welcome visitors again this weekend!!

Free Museum Night

Paris opened up all the museums for free on a Saturday night.  After a wonderful dinner with some friends, we checked out the museum of hunting and nature because Dracula was set to make an appearance there.  And how can you pass that up?  He was pretty creepy, but also pretty entertaining!

Covered Passages of Paris

Last week I took a guided tour of the covered passage of Paris...who even knew they existed?  I learned a lot about the history of Paris and it was fun to imagine how busy they would have been back in the day.  They're still filled with shops and restaurants now, but definitely not as busy!  The original light fixtures, stained glass ceilings, and some of the store fronts were quite amazing!

Les Heures Heureuses de Paris

This was an event sponsored by the city of Paris.  After receiving your passport, you could choose from over 100 restaurants to visit and receive tastings of their food for 2 euros apiece!  At every restaurant you had to get your passport stamped.  We had a blast, but found the food to be a wide range on the level of deliciousness.  We had amazing pastries from Lisbon, a plateful of food and wine for 3 euros, and a delicious taco but also reportedly "the worst half hot dog I've ever eaten in my life" and an interesting appetizer that we added to our itinerary on account of a French woman raving in the street about it to us!

All in all, a great night with great friends, and Nick and I were pumped have a 10-15 minute conversation with a native French speaker! :)

At Least We Have Flowers....

Even though the weather has been gloomy and miserable, at least we still have the flowers.  There were days I walked by this little garden on purpose just to lift my mood.  But, it really is more beautiful in the sun....as you can see from today's picture on the right!

Bowling

Bowling...c'est très américain!  But, so much fun!  We spent Saturday night with a bunch of other American expats enjoying some good ol' American fun, some beers, and unintentionally impressing all the French with our bowling skills.  This isn't saying much considering our scores, but it was pretty funny to watch the French bowling form.  There's no approach--just walk up to the line, swing your arm back and forth really hard a few times, before finally letting it go down the alley! :)

A great night with some great, new friends.  Feel lucky to have met a such a wonderful group of people!!

And finally, and possibly most importantly...FRO YO!

My friend just told me that's there's a new frozen yogurt place just 2 blocks from her apartment.  Now there's a few other places to get frozen yogurt in Paris but none of them are self-serve, so when I heard this one was, I was pumped!!  Lucky for me, it's just on the other side of the Champ de Mars, so of course I've already checked it out.  And oh....it is sooooo good!  Even if they don't have as many flavors as my fav Tutti Frutti, it will do until my next visit to Texas! :)

Well, May is coming to a close, the weather is hopefully improving, which also means visitors.  That means my Monday Minutes may not be as regular because I'll be busy....
